Lymphatic Enhancement (LET) utilises electronic and manual stimulation for fluid acceleration, working to release congestion in the lymphatic system. The treatment combines Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) therapy along with a therapeutic tool called Lymphstar Pro.
Medical taping may be used as a stand-alone treatment, however, it is not considered to be a fully independent treatment and works best in conjunction with a lymphatic drainage treatment. Medical taping does however,
help create the conditions required and allows the body to regenerate more optimally.
Medical Taping can be used in the management of Lymphoedema or oedema secondary to cancer treatment. Medical taping is applied in such a way to facilitate lymphatic drainage by stretching and lifting the skin. By using this method, pressure is taken off the lymphatic system allowing the lymph fluid to drain to functioning lymph nodes. It provides a 24 hour per day treatment when applied correctly. Medical Taping usually starts working sometime between application and up to 12 hours from application.
The hypo-allergic elastic cotton tape is similar to that of the human skin, allowing the skin to breathe. The tape is air & water-permeable, while still being water resistant. These qualities means the tape can be worn for 5-7 days.
The effects of Medical Taping are:
- Lymphatic Function:
Removes congestion of lymphatic fluid
- Muscle Function:
Alleviates pain and improves muscle function by regulating muscle tone
- Joint Function:
Supports the function of joints by simulating proprioception, correcting the direction of movement and increasing stability
- Skin Function: Stimulation of the skin relieves pain or abnormal feelings on the skin and muscles.
